1. How to choose best food

Providing your cat with the happy life that she deserves is what it is all about being a pet parent, and it starts with her day-to-day meal. Along with plenty of water, she needs the best cat food for her stage in life which must include the following ingredients – protein, carbohydrates, certain types of fats, and other important vitamins and minerals to keep her healthy and active.

2. Should I feed my cat dry food?

It must be the question of a lot of cat owners, “whether they should feed their cat dry food or wet food?”

You can give your cat dry food as long as it is complete and balanced. Dry food may be cheaper than canned cat food and may stay fresher much longer than wet cat food. Cats who are only dry food to eat need to be provided with lots of water, especially if they are very prone to get urinary tract blockages.

The benefit of buying dry food for your cat is its ease, convenience, and cost. Millions of cats all over the world are fed dry meals and can lead a long and healthy life. Some cats prefer grazing their food over the day rather than at, which is the main feeding method when wet food is used.

3. How much to feed my cat to keep her healthy?

If you are a new cat parent and you don’t know how much you should feed your cat in order to keep her healthy, fit and strong then it might help you.

So how much food does your cat need? This question is best answered by a professional or we can say a Vet,  but the recommended range is between 24 to 35 calories a day per pound, to keep your cat normal and healthy.

Still many of us don’t really know what normal looks like, so “I encourage people to ask their vet to help them determine their cat’s body condition “ and he’ll tell you how much food your cat really needs.

4. What is the best part of treats?

The best part of treats is, they help you to train your kitten in the early stages of her life. Not only training but these treats have high nutritional value, so in addition to training, these traits also keep your kitten healthy, and obviously they come in the flavors that your cat likes the most. It is like an evening snack for your cats.

The best dog food, according to experts and veterinarians

Like humans, dogs also have distinctive personality characteristics, and some breeds are notoriously loved and cuddling with their people. Many dogs want to get connected, just like humans express emotions with touch, like the kids, they want to sleep next to you at night (or maybe they just want an extra treat). Intuitive dog owners can testify that their unconditional love is one of the most beautiful gifts dogs have to offer us.

A dog is always glad to see you, cuddle, play – anytime! Dogs are going to love you because they’re loyal and you’re your master and guardian. That is what they are forever grateful for and full of unspotted love for you — which takes the title of “the best friend of man.”Taking care of them. It means that we have to feed them properly.

Feeding Patterns for my dog

Dogs, like humans, have simple stomach anatomy. Because dogs have a simple stomach structure, food will move into the small intestine and the stomach will empty within a few hours. An empty stomach begins to send signals to the brain after 8 to 10 hours, stimulating a hunger response. As a result, at least two meals per day are recommended for your dog. Imagine if you only got to eat breakfast every day! Regular, routine feeding times prepare your dog’s body for the food it will receive.

It is not advisable to keep the bowl full and allow grazing.

A change in eating habits can be a sign of illness. When dogs eat regularly, they develop a strong habit. At a glance, it is easy to see if all of the food from a meal has been consumed. If food is left, whether it is all or part of a meal, it is a clear indication that something is wrong and that a veterinary appointment is in order. So please be careful with your dogs because it’s true what they say:

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”

1. ID Tags

Put this at the top of your list of must-haves for your dog. Even if your dog is microchipped, ID tags personalised with their name will help ensure they return home as soon as possible. In the event of a fire, earthquake, or another emergency, most dogs should wear ID tags 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a flat collar (not a martingale-style).

2. Pet First Aid Kit

This kit includes the essentials, but there is plenty of room to customize its contents for your specific pet. A first-aid kit is necessary not only in the event of a natural disaster but also whenever a pet is far from immediate assistance, such as when the family takes the pet outside for a picnic or anywhere else.

3. Spare Leash

A spare leash is similar to a spare jacket for humans; when you need it, you’re really glad you packed it. You can take your dog for a walk, but if the only leash you have has problems, you can’t.  The spare one will save your life.

4. Harness

A harness provides more security and comfort for many dogs, and it is especially beneficial for those who pull on the leash. Depending on your dog’s size, training, and temperament, one of the styles may be preferable to the other. Moving to a harness, for example, may alter the way you walk your dog, or from your dog size.

5. Flea Treatment

Fleas can sneak into your home any time of year. Many flea treatments can be purchased over the counter, but stick to collars, chewable, or medications that are “veterinarian recommended.” This is one product where natural options just don’t cut it.

6. Paw Wipes/Coat Wipes

When there isn’t time for a full bath, these babies come in handy. Baby wipes or other moist wipes labeled safe for pet use can quickly clean muddy, sandy, or salty paws and are easy to pack in a bag if you’re traveling. They help in the removal of allergens, dirt, and anything odorous that your dog may have rolled in. Apply them to the paws or wipe them on the coat as needed.

7. Stain and Odor Remover

As much as you adore your adorable furry friends, they can cause quite a commotion in your home, which is why these top-rated stain removers are so useful. There’s no need to worry about the mess if you’re puppy training or your pet isn’t feeling well. Enzyme-based cleaners are truly a marvel of modern science. They aid in the removal of lingering urine odours while also removing the underlying pheromones that pups tend to return to and re-mark when left behind.

Remember, take care of your dog because you are in charge of him and you are his family.

The 5 Types of Dog Harnesses

The 5 Types of Dog Harnesses

Podcast | Kiara – The 5 Types of Dog Harnesses

Every expert agrees that wearing a harness while walking your dog is safer than leading them by the collar.

With so many different types of dog harnesses on the market, it can be difficult to find the right one for your pup! The main advantage of using a harness instead of a traditional collar for walks is that it relieves pressure on your dog’s neck, potentially preventing tracheal injury.

Different Types Of Harnesses

Table of Contents

  1. Back-clip harnesses have the D-ring (where the leash attaches) on top.
  2. Front-Clip Harnesses
  3. Dual-Clip Harnesses
  4. Step-In Harness
  5. Head Halters

1. Back-clip harnesses have the D-ring (where the leash attaches) on top

Benefits: You have more control over your dog than you would with a flat collar. To avoid tangling, keep the leash up and away from your dog’s legs. The D-ring is placed lower on your dog’s back and away from their neck, which reduces the risk of injury.

Back-clip harnesses can exacerbate pulling problems, which is by far the most significant disadvantage. Because dogs move in the opposite direction of the force applied to them, if you pull on top of them, they will pull forward.

2. Front-Clip Harnesses

Front-clip harnesses are similar to back-clip harnesses in appearance, but the D-ring is located on your dog’s chest. If your dog pulls, you should probably start with one of these harnesses.

Advantages: The front attachment point discourages your dog’s natural pulling instinct. Some have Martingale loops to apply additional pressure, discouraging pulling even more. You can direct your dog by laying the leash on either side of him.

Disadvantages: The leash becomes tangled in your dog’s legs more easily, and swinging it from one side of your dog to the other can be difficult (their snout gets in the way).

3. Dual-Clip Harnesses

Dual-clip harnesses provide the most versatility, allowing you to clip to your dog’s back or front…or both if you have a double-ended leash (image below). When only one D-ring is used, the harness can be used as a back-clip or front-clip harness.

Advantages: Versatility in that it can be used as a front-clip or back-clip harness, or both.

Disadvantages: Most of these harnesses are larger or more expensive, and you’ll need a double-ended leash to connect to both D-rings at the same time.

4. Step-In Harness

For dogs who dislike wearing a harness over their heads, a step-in harness is ideal. Lay the harness flat on the ground and allow your dog to step into the two loops formed by the straps.

  • Advantages: Excellent for small dog breeds; most are back-clip; easy to put on.
  • The disadvantage is that if your dog is easily excited or disobedient, it may be difficult to get them into the proper position to put on the harness.

5. Head Halters

Head halters are an excellent choice for extreme pullers because they allow you to exert the most control over your dog while using the least amount of force. When our 52-pound dog hulks out at the sight of another dog, she can be difficult to restrain with any of the harnesses listed above.

Advantages: Because your dog cannot throw their entire bodyweight behind a lunge, you have the most control over him. Ideal for smaller people with larger dogs.

Disadvantages: Uncontrollable dogs risk injuring their necks. Some dogs don’t like wearing head halters, so it may take a few days/weeks to get them used to it. If your dog is a heavy puller, it may leave marks on its face.

Seven Things Your Dog Doesn’t Like

Seven Things Your Dog Doesn’t Like

Podcast | Kiara – Seven Things Your Dog Doesn’t Like

Dogs are incredible creatures. They make excellent companions and devoted protectors. It’s difficult to imagine our lives without them.

Most people are aware of what their dogs like and dislike. Dogs aren’t always shy about expressing their emotions. Other times, dogs remain silent, as if nothing is wrong.

As a pet owner, it is critical to understand when you are doing things that your dog enjoys versus things that he dislikes, or when you are doing things that could harm him. Dogs deserve to be treated with dignity and comfort. They, too, have limitations. Some things frighten, stress, and frustrate them.

    4. Patting His Head
    5. Eye Contact
    6. Lack Of Structure
    7. No Routine

1. Using Words Instead Of Body Language

Body language is more perceptive to dogs than words. If you constantly yell at your dog instead of attempting to communicate with him through body language, he will become irritated. Dogs become perplexed when their body language says one thing and their voice says another. It is preferable to be consistent in both what you say and how you say it.

2. Hugging Them

It’s natural for you to want to hug your dog, but he might not like it. Your dog does not see a hug as a way for you to express your love. He interprets it as you attempting to restrain or restrict his movement. He may even interpret it as a sign of aggression. A good belly rub would be much more beneficial to him.

3. Petting His Face

Those adorable little faces are difficult to resist, but dogs do not enjoy having their faces petted. They’ll put up with it, but they’ll never enjoy it. Dogs interpret this as a sign of aggression as well. Allow your dog to pet his face if he pulls away from you. Pet him somewhere else if you want to rub his ears.

4. Patting His Head

If your dog has been a good boy or when you come home to see him, you might want to pat his head, but he doesn’t want you to. It makes him feel uneasy and perplexed. It looks too much like a punch, and it’s too close to his face. Instead, pet him from the neck down.

5. Eye Contact

You’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t look a dog in the eyes. That is correct. This is viewed as a challenge by dogs. It may pose an even greater challenge to strange dogs. It is acceptable to cast a glance at their face but avoid prolonged direct eye contact.

6. Lack Of Structure

When it comes to structuring, dogs are similar to children. They thrive on it and perform best when they know what is expected of them. Give your dog structure and let him know what he can and cannot do from a young age. He’ll be happier and more well-behaved.

7. No Routine

Dogs require routines. Every day, they should eat, go outside, and be put to bed or created at the same time. They are more likely to have accidents and develop behavioural problems when they are not on a routine.

Give the dog time and space, and make them feel safe. Be normal and go about your daily activities. You’ll probably notice that the dog warms up on its own after you start to ignore them for a while.

How To Take Care of Pets in Rainy Season

How To Take Care of Pets in Rainy Season

Podcast | Kiara – How To Take Care of Pets in Rainy Season

Table of Contents

  1. Keep Them Clean and Dry
  2. Protect the Paws
  3. Clean Their Ears Once a Day
  4. Keep Them Away From Frogs and Lizards
  5. Use Protective Rain Gear
  6. Dental Care Is Very Important

1. Keep Them Clean and Dry

You can go outside and dance with your doggie while it rains. But make sure to wash your pet with warm water and antifungal soap or shampoo when you get home. This is very important if you live in a city.

Because of the high levels of pollution in cities, rain is frequently acidic. This can harm your pet’s skin and coat and must be removed to prevent the development of rashes or skin diseases. Washing with plain water is excellent, but using antimicrobial shampoo eliminates the risk of infection. To reproduce and multiply, bacteria and other microorganisms require a warm, moist environment.

2. Protect the Paws

Pet paws are far more sensitive than they appear. Allowing your dog to step on an extremely hot or cold surface is one of the most common ways to injure their paws.

Running in the backyard, digging a hole for his bone, and going for a walk in the park are all activities that your puppy would struggle with if his paws were not healthy. As a result, if you take your pet for a walk during the monsoon, make sure their paws are properly protected. Before removing them, apply a thin coat of paw butter (Vaseline + Coconut Oil is a great DIY recipe).

When they return, wash their paws with lukewarm water to remove any dirt or debris that may have become stuck between the pads. After washing the paws, thoroughly dry them. Inspect the paws for cuts and bruises regularly. Rain frequently washes sharp glass or metal scraps out in the open. Your pet may inadvertently step on them and injure themselves. During the monsoon, don’t ignore any wounds. They can become infected very quickly.

3. Clean Their Ears Once a Day

They are also more likely to be exposed to ear infections in wet weather. Every day during the monsoons, you must clean their ears with a cotton bud. During the rest of the year, cleaning them once a month is fine.” Pet grooming salons also provide thorough ear cleaning.

4. Keep Them Away From Frogs and Lizards

During the rains, keep a close eye on your dog because frogs and lizards, which can be extremely toxic, will crawl around randomly. If you catch your pet with one in his mouth, induce vomiting by putting vinegar or salt on the back of their tongue to flush out the toxins.

5. Use Protective Rain Gear

Raincoats and doggie boots, as goofy as it sounds, may be able to prevent a lot of damage to your pet’s coat, ears, and paws. If your pet does not like wearing these items, simply wash and dry him thoroughly when he returns home.

These simple steps can keep your pet safe from the problems that the monsoon brings. Always be careful of what your dog is eating. Their diet should boost their immunity and compensate for the lack of exercise during the rainy season. Always be on the lookout for any signs of skin problems and consult a veterinarian as soon as possible if something goes wrong.

6. Dental Care Is Very Important

Many breeds are predisposed to gum disease, which can be fatal. Infection caused by this condition causes premature tooth loss and is known to cause infections in major organs, including the heart valves.

1. High activity level

This is the major reason why we need to switch our Pet’s diet.

Dogs who participate in circus shows and other responder jobs may need a better formula to support those daily activities. They require different kinds of dog food. These dog foods often have higher levels of protein, calories, and other vitamins and minerals. At some age when dogs retire from these tiering activities, they may need to start eating a lower-calorie food to avoid unwanted weight gain, which hugely impacts their health.

So, activity level is an important factor while considering your dog’s day-to-day meal intake.

2. Weight management

Weight Is also a major factor in determining when to switch your dog’s diet and what to give him to maintain his optimum weight.

If your dog is not in his ideal body weight, your vet may recommend a professional dog food that best fits your dog’s requirements. Not every weight change needs to be paid attention to through a change in the food. Sometimes all you need to do is feed more or less of the current food. Your vet can help you determine what’s best for your dog to keep him at an optimum weight.

3. Small breeds

Switching to adult food coincides with maturity, but due to the large variety of breeds, different dogs mature at different rates. Smaller breeds tend to mature faster than larger breeds. We can categorize small breeds on the basis of their weight-

  1. Dogs weighing 30 pounds mature around 10 to 12 months of age.
  2. Some small breeds can mature around seven to nine months old.
  3. Medium breeds, weighing 80 pounds, mature somewhat between 12 to 16 months

Small breeds need adult professional food early as compared to big/large breeds. But their overall intake is still low because of their small body sizes. You may consult a vet to know what’s best for your pup and his health

4. Large breed puppies

Obviously, large breeds require more food to meet their daily requirement of protein, carbohydrates, and other vitamins and minerals. This in turn increases the amount of daily food intake. But these breeds take a Lil bit more time to reach their maturity age so you can feed them basic puppy food till around 1.5 years of their life, that you slowly need to change their diet to professional dog food, so as to keep them healthy and fit. Large breeds too can be divided into categories according to their weight-

  1.  Large breeds take about 12, 13, or even 14 months to reach maturity age.
  2.  Giant breed dogs ( say over 80 pounds) might take somewhat around two years to reach maturity.
